09:40 am - Sketchy Seattle calls for photographers Hmmm.
Read this
I'd be tempted to agree. It greatly resembles writing competitions that have reprint agreements. I.E; even if you don't win our contest we still get to use what you write in future publications.

03:03 pm - LOLLERSKATES From a photographer's journal:
So I go to thru the agencies but those fuckers see the $$ in the client and start raising their prices-greedy motherfuckers- so I start doing web searches, which is the worst place to find models. I also joined that modelmayhem site- I gotta tell you, looking for models on these things is like dumpster diving-you search search search and maybe come out with a half rotten slice of pizza. 05:14 pm - Oh this is just awesome. Kumimonster is one of my favorites. She's got attitude (as my Barnsley Yorkshire friends call it) and is bald. It's a great way to breach typing and fairly god damned ballsy to boot. At the moment I have (flowing) locks of blonde hair all over the place that I'd absolutely hate to give up. Hell, I had issues when my hair was about 3 inches long. It's the one true female characteristic I really identify with. The thought of shaving my head is akin to chopping off my right middle finger. It would be a serious loss of a fine aspect of my identity.
On a less gender boundary sort of bent, I also like Krispy Kreme because, well, who doesn't?* It's sweet siren lure is similar to Dick's in Seattle... almost irresistable.
Despite all of the goodness above I can't honestly say I find the hotness of this photo. I do understand the appeal, a bit, for persons of such fetish inclinations. I try not to think about it too intensely really. The idea of a large gentleman banging his meat to photos of glazed covered women? Better off left with 'furries' and 'pretending to be dead.'
What the photo did do was make me smile and not in the normal gleeful keyboard banging rage. That's a rare, rare thing.
Here.
* Because, you know, I'm fat and jealous. I thought I'd get that out of the way for you. See how nice I am? Current Mood: amused

02:05 pm - Suicide Girl or the next St. Theresa? Children’s Welfare, Health, and Safety is at stake.
We, the undersigned, request the removal of “Dia” from the site, www.suicidegirls.com
“Dia” has moved away from wanting to be associated with online pornography so that she might pursue a future path working for, and championing numerous known and established charities, as a spokesperson, and feel that the two conflict in the public eye, or worse, could cause harm to these vital causes that she spearheads, which involve children’s health and welfare. She has already asked for the site owners to remove her, and they have declined to reply, and have not removed her images. She also offered to buy the images back, which equally did not garner a response from this multi-million dollar corporation.
Do not porn when one wants to work with children.
Here's the petition(?!!)
Dia doesn't ever appear to be cut out for the online pr0n game. She was mentioned in this City Pages article for thinking that dildo pics were too er, pornographic. Perhaps she should stay away from lolita projects if she's going to be helping the kiddies....
Confused much?

11:28 am - I want this to come up with people search for 'METROLINK' or TRANSPORT and MANCHESTER Sent this letter to the GMTPE people today. We'll see if anything comes of it...
To whom it may concern,
I'm writing to complain about the Metrolink's appalling service, which only seems to be getting worse. Each month I pay approximately 47 pounds on top of a 60 pound Greater Manchester rail card. This amount of money goes to fun the incredibly short return journey from Deansgate to Exchange Quay, which is approximately 1.4 miles as the crow flies. Keep in mind that the journey from Wigan Station to Deansgate is roughly 25 miles. For my train ticket I pay approximately 6-10 pence per mile. That's not pounds. Very reasonable, wouldn't you say? Now, whilst Northern rail's lateness track record is well below expected, they still manage to keep the morning trains running. I rarely miss connections and it's rarely the train that makes me 30 minutes late.
Contrast the above information with the Metrolink. It costs me around an extra 47 pounds a month to use the trams. Which comes to about .75-80 p per mile straight to get to work everyday. Now, the trains have a low estimate of about 88% on time or something. As far as I can tell, the Metrolink has no goals for timetables. From my own records, which have a margin of error, I am late for work more than 10 minutes approximately 3 days a week. For the record, I'm basing this off the tram that is supposed to arrive at GMex (Deansgate to train riders) around 8:45 ish, arriving at Exchange Quay around 8:55 to 9:05. I use the trams around 230 days a year. Guessing I go to work for about 46 weeks (including Christmas and annual leave) at 3 days per week I'm late, that comes to around 138 days per year I am late to work as a direct result of the trams not functioning properly. Percentage wise, that comes to 60%. Around 60% of the time, there is either no tram or delays. In case you missed math, that's more than half the time. Now, keep in mind that per mile the Metrolink costs me around 8-10 times more than the train system but it is late more often with no goal posts?
Finally having it, I called the Metrolink 'customer service' number today and the woman on the other end told me that the trams are broken, never to return and that it's your fault for not giving them enough money. She also told me it's going to take 13-14 months to build new ones even if you stop being so Scrooge-like. So, why not shift some into the time slot? We can't, is all she would say. I find it spectacular that light rail could get screwed up so fundamentally. It's supposed to be cheaper (HA,) environmentally friendlier (who knows,) and more efficient (BIG HA.) As you can see above, it's missed the boat for at least 2/3. So, what exactly, do you plan on doing about it?

Thank you for contacting GMPTE, with your concerns regarding the Metrolink service.
As you may be aware, GMPTE acts as a facilitator for certain aspects of public transport within Greater Manchester, but does not operate the services themselves. These are all operated by private companies, on a commercial basis, and whilst GMPTE owns the Metrolink system, it is the private sector operator, SERCO Metrolink who have the contract to operate and maintain all aspects of the network.
Your comments have however, been logged and forwarded to the GMPTE Metrolink team for appropriate attention. You should expect their full reply within 15 days of the date of this letter however, should you wish to contact them directly the telephone number is 0161 242 6789.
Thank you again for bringing this matter to my attention and should you have a problem in the future please do not hesitate to contact me.
And my reply: That's a refreshing point of view, Metrolink seems to think it's your fault because you don't give them any money and you're saying it's Metrolink's fault. How novel! I'm stunned, really.
Well, I appreciate you fobbing me off, especially after all my complicated math. That 'copy and paste' operation you've just performed was probably very, very taxing. In the mean time, I'm going to be freezing my extremities off at Exchange Quay, trying to get home. You wouldn't know what that's like, would you? You probably drive.

05:46 pm - Oh Jesus The MIS gods have blessed me with a system that has built in speakers. (It means I don't have to run away with them when no one is looking.) I've gone looking for fabulous music I can listen to that will drown out the vile, repetetive shit that the Receptionist listens to.
I've found something worse than Manchester's Key 103. Radio Satan 666 Messy Stench. Hey miss thang, we gave you a not too bad review here not long ago but you fucking suck as a DJ. The 'banter' with that guy in the background, what is that? Jesus, do you people ever shut up? And now fucking old is that 'I touch myself' song? Come on, you're talking Violent Femmes PLAY THEM. So yes, erm, satin gets all static-y, apparently. Yay. Just play the music and stop making that bizarre growly voice.
Jebus Christ. You were a moderately hot model, stick to that.

03:49 pm - Free Web Hosting My old webhost has kindly killed my website after a month. I forgot to update my details with them re: my debit card. No e-mail, nothing. I left a message with their 'financial' department, with no joy.
I've been looking for something cheap and cheerful, with extremely mixed results. Many hosts want to charge extortionate prices, considering the cost of broadband & storage. Many seem to be using Server 2003 as well, which is good and bad in my mind. I've found some free hosts that I might give a go.
http://www.advantagehost.co.uk/members/index.php - Free if you click on the sponsor offers
http://my.dot.tk/cgi-bin/bn02a.taloha - free domain name registration, requires 25 hits per month
http://www.trap17.com/ - free if you post 10 times on their forum (I like this, essentially you're getting paid in webspace for helping their users. Excellent idea.)

Exam 70-218: Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Environment (Course 2126)

02:57 pm - Good certification resources (for free. WOOO) http://www.certification-crazy.net/mcse.htm Has a load of practise exams, study guides and cheat sheets. I recommend the 'Fred' one for 70-217, it was immensely helpful.
|
02:50 pm - 70-217 update So, I passed. Here's what I did:
1. Went through course material (I have a certain luxury here)
2. Went through Sybex book
3. Borrowed instructors at various intervals to help me understand the whys and whats of a question. (Note: this probably won't help you if you're just looking for a paper certification. I'm not though.)
4. Remembered acronyms like: Operations Masters (DRIPS): Domain naming master RID master Infrastructure Daemon PDC Emulator Schema master
D and S cannot be edited by using AD Users and Computers as they are not domain specific. These are for the Forest. Domain Naming is edited using Sites and Services, the Schema master is modified using the AD Schema snap in.
5. Lots of practise tests. LOTS of practise tests. And understanding why I was getting the questions wrong and why a similar answer was wrong.
Now, I move on to 70-219.
